here’s something that bothers me about tumblr.  we find an actor or actress who says some cool things in interviews, and then we project everything we have ever read about and believed in onto this actor or actress, and then we throw a shitfit when they’re not the perfect sociology major with a minor in women’s and gender studies politically correct angel we want them to be.  

do these people need a little education on certain social ills?  of course.  should we get really mad at them for not spending their waking hours on the same strange, didactic corner of the internet as us?  haha no fucking way.  and you don’t need to agree with 100% of what an artist says or does to enjoy their work.  so there’s that, too.

its because half of the fandom complains about “”“FANSERVICE”“” and the other half complains about how ships never become canon

every last fucking one of you all know very well that homestuck isnt only “about fanservice”, you know its not

its about internet culture its about trusting your friends and being brave and rising to the occasion its about adventure its about BEING A KID and how HARD THAT CAN BE, and how sometimes no one understands, maybe not even the reader (hint hint being a kid and falling in love)

if youre still reading homestuck its because you love homestuck

you love it so much that you care about every last thing that happens in it, you care about it enough to fight over your opinions about things that happen in it

and you know that, at the end of the day, its a great story

dont devalue andrew hussies hard work by writing it off as “ew fanservice”

if youre reading homestuck and hate it i dont know why youre wasting your time
